Finnish World War 2 motion film Sisu is a hidden gem, having hit No 1 on the Netflix UK movie chart again in 2024.

Set throughout 1944’s Lapland War, the unique movie follows a Finnish Army commando turned gold prospector making an attempt to defend himself from being robbed and murdered by a Waffen-SS platoon.

Influenced by the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone and Rambo First Blood, this gory flick acquired crucial acclaim upon launch and now has a sequel that is been hailed a “masterpiece” by some critics.

But now World War 2 has simply ended, this time round, he’s not taking up the Nazis, however the Soviets, and particularly Stephen Lang’s Red Army commander.

The movie’s official synopsis reads: “SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event, a sequel to the original sleeper hit SISU. Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor.
