Battersea Park hearth LIVE: 60 firefighters rush to sort out London blaze | UK | News | EUROtoday

LFB mentioned: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a building fire on Battersea Park Road in Battersea.

“The hearth has been affecting a three-storey constructing with industrial properties on the bottom flooring and flats above. Two flats on the second flooring, together with a part of the roof of the constructing, had been alight.

“The fire has now been brought under control by firefighters but crews will remain on scene over the coming hours to fully extinguish the fire and to dampen down.

“There have been no reviews of any accidents presently. People within the space had been suggested to maintain their home windows and doorways closed on the top of the fireplace because of smoke travelling from the incident.

“Battersea Park Road remains closed between the junctions of Queenstown Road and Havelock Terrace. The incident is causing significant traffic disruption and motorists are advised to continue to avoid the area whilst firefighters remain on scene.

“The Brigade obtained the primary of 17 calls concerning the hearth at 1428 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Clapham, Battersea, Lambeth, Brixton and surrounding hearth stations to the scene.

“A 32-metre turntable ladder from Clapham Fire Station has also been in attendance and used as a water tower to help extinguish the fire from above. The fire was brought under control by 1555. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
