Emmanuel Grégoire recordsdata a grievance towards Rachida Dati for defamation | EUROtoday

Emmanuel Grégoire, candidate of the United Left (excluding La France insoumise) within the municipal elections in Paris (scheduled for March 15 and 22), introduced on Monday February 16 that he would file a grievance for defamation towards Rachida Dati, his right-wing competitor, after the latter’s accusations made on CNews and Europe 1.

“Sometimes you can lead meetings and Mister’s team [Ian] Brossat, Sir [David] Belliard and Monsieur [Emmanuel] Grégoire sends people to you to try to attack you or to attack the people with whom you meet”Rachida Dati had stated earlier.

Ian Brossat and David Belliard may also file a grievance

“In order to defend the honor of Emmanuel Grégoire and the united left as well as the integrity of the democratic debate in Paris, a complaint will be filed today [lundi] for defamation against Madame Rachida Dati »Emmanuel Grégoire’s campaign team reacted in a press release. The communist Ian Brossat also confirmed to Agence France-Presse (AFP) that he would file a complaint, as did the environmentalist David Belliard.

“To exploit the death of a young man by telling lies is outrageous. And above all it is illegal”declared the latter in a message despatched to AFP.

Emmanuel Grégoire’s staff additionally deplores that certainly one of its activists was attacked on Sunday morning on the Grenelle market, within the XV^e district, by the groups of Zemmourist candidate Sarah Knafo. “A group of far-right activists led by Samuel Lafont, head of Sarah Knafo’s list in the district, attacked several activists of the united left. Samuel Lafont took advantage of the isolation of one of our activists to grab his arm, while the latter was facing around ten aggressive activists”a press launch from Emmanuel Grégoire reported on Sunday night.
