UK city to lose 2 impartial gown retailers in 1 day – 30 years of enterprise | UK | News | EUROtoday

Two companies in a UK city centre are set to close after 30 years in enterprise. The Bridal Boutique and Simply Elegant are closing in Swindon to permit the homeowners a “well-deserved retirement”.

Friends Jane Watts and Sue McCallion have run the companies since they opened in 1996 and 2000, respectively. The Bridal Boutique presents wedding ceremony attire, and Simply Elegant presents promenade and mother-of-the-bride attire. Sue advised the Swindon Advertiser that, although it’s “sad” and they’ll miss it, this was a “good time to stop”, with the pair reaching retirement age and the state of the excessive avenue. She mentioned that there’s “faint hope” at a retail revival, with individuals primarily ordering on-line. The 70-year-old warned individuals towards this, saying she ceaselessly has prospects who purchase low cost attire on-line after which are pressured to enter a retailer as a result of the standard “isn’t good enough”.

Sue added: “It’s been lovely, we’ve met so many nice people, and it’s quite an emotional job. It’s wonderful to see 15-year-old girls who have never worn a dress gain so much confidence, and then – years later – find the right wedding dress.

The exact closure date has not yet been announced, but there is an ‘everything must go’ sale currently on in both stores.

Owners posted on Simply Elegant’s Facebook page: “As we prepare for a well-deserved retirement, our doors will be closing – but not without one last chance for you to shine!

“All prom dresses and mother of the bride dresses must go. This is your best opportunity to find the perfect gown for proms or any special event as everything is reduced to clear.”
