Marine mammals: Whale will get caught in fishing web off the Baltic Sea coast | EUROtoday

A ten-meter-long whale received caught in a fishing web off the Baltic Sea coast close to Steinbeck within the Northwest Mecklenburg district. A passer-by found the animal on Tuesday afternoon and alerted the authorities, whereupon the Wismar water police have been deployed, the officers stated.

A fisherman who seen that the whale was caught in his web reeled it in. “The net was severed and the whale was able to move seaward,” the officers stated in a press release. The police boat accompanied the animal for round 35 minutes.

However, a line received caught across the whale’s physique. The authorities suspect that it’s the similar whale that was noticed within the Wismar port space on March third. The line may have been caught on the whale a number of days in the past.

The Stralsund Oceanographic Museum, the Travemünde site visitors heart and the crew of the Sea Shepherd environmental safety ship “Triton” have been concerned. There is at the moment no menace to delivery, it stated.
