Treasury Secretary Gets Pulled From Interview To See Trump, Comes Back Rattled | EUROtoday

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was summoned to President Donald Trump’s Situation Room in the course of an interview Thursday and got here again a tad tense. (Watch the video under.)

The secretary was discussing Japanese economics with “The Master Investor” host Wilfred Frost of Sky News when an aide informed Bessent offscreen, “Sorry, the president wants you right away.”

Someone eliminated Bessent’s microphone and off he went at 10:22 a.m., in keeping with Sky News. He resumed the sit-down at 12:07 p.m.

But he appeared distracted and fumbled for phrases.

“How was the president? Was he stressed?” Frost requested.

“Uh, no, the the president is in great spirits,” Bessent answered nervously. “The Iranian mission is proceeding well ahead of schedule. And I have to tell you, Wilf, that I’ve a teenage teenager [sic] who’s considering, uh, military service. And I could give this team my highest compliment. From President Trump to the head of the joint chiefs to the secretary of war, I would they say that I would trust my child’s life in their hands.”

“Well your child sounds like a brave person, Mr. Secretary, and we want to come to all those details in a couple of moments,” Frost replied. But if I could, I need to decide as much as the place we had been.”

“My belief is that as soon as it is militarily possible, the U.S. Navy, perhaps with an international coalition, will be escorting vessels through,” Bessent stated. “There are, in fact, tankers coming through now, Iranian tankers, I believe some Chinese flag tankers have come through. So we know that they have not mined the straits.”
