An unbiased bakery has confirmed that it is going to be closing two of its metropolis branches quickly. The proprietor of the bakery introduced the unhappy information on social media, attributing it to the heavy workload and the psychological toll.

Maillard Patisserie operates two branches, in Hampden and Hamilton, Baltimore, US. Owner and pastry chef Caitlin Kiehl stated that after 5 years of working on the bakeries, it is time to take some relaxation.

“Caitlin here to deliver some very bittersweet news today. We will be closing Maillard Patisserie in early May.

“When I began Maillard in 2020 I really had no idea what it would become over the next five years. It’s been an incredible journey and the greatest privilege to serve two wonderful Baltimore neighbourhoods alongside an amazing staff.

“The reality is, this work can be mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting. Owning a small business is a 24/7 job and after 5+ years I need to take some time off to rest and reset and prioritise time with friends and family.

“We have a few more holidays to get through and some fun things we’d like to do before we’re finished so we hope you’ll stick with us as we enter into our final months.

“Both locations will be available in the not too distant future so if you or someone you know is interested please reach out and I can put you in touch with the landlords.”

The feedback have been flooded with prospects expressing their disappointment on the closure and wishing the enterprise proprietor one of the best as she steps down.

One particular person wrote: “Proof that all good things must come to an end. Thank you for the wonderful weekend breakfasts.

“Take care, rest up, and if spirit moves you to create amazing pastries for the world again we’ll be here to eat them.”

Another stated: “I am so so sad to hear this – but also can only imagine the stress and strain! Hope you continue to find joy in what you do and hopefully we can still get your amazing baked goods somewhere when you feel restored and recouped.”
