Ministers should do extra to “eliminate the ancient scourge of antisemitism” after the sickening firebombing of 4 Jewish group ambulances, Keir Starmer has been instructed.
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp stated the “hideous” arson assault – feared to have been orchestrated by Iran – is proof “too little has been done”.
Three thugs torched the Hatzola automobiles in Golders Green the early hours of Monday morning, prompting warnings of a “terror cell” on the run in London.

But Mr Philp stated: “This is a hideous antisemitic attack on a charity which provides vital ambulance services.
“The Jewish community has been targeted again and again – including in the Islamist attack on Heaton Park synagogue last autumn.
“Whoever is guilty of this sickening crime must go to jail for a long time – and if they are not British citizens, they must then be deported.
“We must make sure that the UK is safe for our Jewish community and we must relentlessly work to eliminate the ancient scourge of antisemitism.”
Mr Philp added: “The truth is, the government has been asleep at the wheel on antisemitism. We have seen a recent antisemitic murder and a surge in antisemitism.
“But too little has been done – as this morning’s outrage demonstrates.
“Antisemitism often goes hand in hand with Islamist extremism.
“We must also do more to prevent antisemitic attacks happening in the first place.
“So will the Minister commit to authorising the use of intrusive surveillance powers usually reserved for counter-terrorism or counter-state threats to also be used to identify and prevent antisemitic attacks which are in the planning?”
Intelligence chiefs and detectives at the moment are attempting to piece collectively whether or not an Iranian terror group carried out the horror.
The Ashab al-Yamin group – the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right – claimed accountability for the sickening assault, prompting warnings of a “chilling escalation” from Iran.
An unverified video posted at 6.13am on Monday on its Telegram channel confirmed photos of the ambulances and pictures of explosions.
At the beginning of the video posted on Telegram, a message in English stated the group’s major goal was the Machzike Hadath Synagogue attributable to its hyperlinks to Israel.
The put up additionally cited Conservative former prime minister Rishi Sunak’s go to to the synagogue throughout the election marketing campaign in June 2024 to specific “his country’s unwavering support for Israel”.
Members of the synagogue imagine the thugs had been finishing up reconnaissance within the run-up to the assault.
Jack Taub, who’s a part of the management crew on the synagogue, instructed The Telegraph: “We have noticed people staking out the synagogue. We upped a lot of security, but it was a calculated attack.”

Alex Gandler, the Israeli spokesman within the UK, blasted the Government’s failure to crack down on pro-Palestine marches.
He stated: “The arson attack against Hatzola ambulances in north-west London is a manifestation of the hatred and evil that was once again allowed to pour through the streets of London this past Saturday.
“It is the predictable consequence of years of tolerated incitement, vitriol and hostility directed at Jews.
“There has been a profound failure of responsibility, and a collapse of priorities that runs directly against the most basic standards of decency. And this cannot end with words alone.
“There must be a full and thorough investigation, those responsible must be found and prosecuted, and the climate of intimidation that made such an attack possible must finally be confronted.”
And Reform UK chief Nigel Farage urged Labour to lastly proscribe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
He declared: “The group that has claimed credit for it Ashab al-Yamin is a terrorist organisation that has already committed horrible crimes in Belgium, the Netherlands and in Greece.
“They are directly linked to the IRGC, the group that even the European Union has proscribed.
“I have been asking the Prime Minister to do something about this. But what did he do? He said ‘our thoughts are with the Jewish Community’.
“I’m sorry Prime Minister, your thoughts aren’t enough. What I want to hear, what the whole country wants to hear, given we now have a terror cell embedded in north London, is that you are proscribing the IRGC and that we will hunt down those who committed this act.
“Just complaining that antisemitism has no place in Britain isn’t good enough. He needs to do something about it.”
Emma Schubart, a researcher on the Henry Jackson Society, stated the Islamist group had been to 3 horrors up to now few weeks alone.
This contains an explosion at a synagogue in Liege, Belgium, an arson assault in Rotterdam and an explosion at a Jewish college in Amsterdam.
She added: “The targeting of Jewish community infrastructure in London is not random. It is calculated psychological warfare designed to spread fear and generate maximum publicity.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams from the Metropolitan Police said the arson attack was being treated as an antisemitic hate crime.
He added: “We believe we are looking for three suspects at this early stage.
“CCTV footage appears to show three people in hoods pouring accelerant on to the vehicles before igniting them and fleeing. While this has not been declared a terrorist incident at this stage, the investigation is now being led by counter-terrorism policing, with all the specialist expertise they bring, and all lines of inquiry remain open.
Williams said police were aware of “an online claim from a group taking responsibility for this attack”, and officers are looking for to determine “the authenticity and accuracy of this claim”.
Ms Mahmood, addressing the assault throughout a speech to the Community Security Trust, stated: “Today, Jews in this country are being forced to live a smaller life: they are hiding the signs of their faith. They are fearful as they send their children to school. Even when they attend a hospital appointment.
“In the Home Office, I am aware of the issues around protests, where legitimate freedoms are being abused and hatred is too often unchecked.
“We must never relent in the fight against antisemitism.
“And my promise to you, as Home Secretary, is that I never will.
“I cannot pretend to know what you feel, facing this rising tide of antisemitism and a feeling that things are moving backwards, when they should be moving forwards.”
