Nearly 12 million ANTS accounts affected by a knowledge leak, proclaims the Interior | EUROtoday

In complete “11.7 million accounts would be affected” by the safety incident which struck the portal of the National Agency for Secure Securities (ANTS) on April 15, the Ministry of the Interior mentioned on Tuesday April 21. “Subject to their conclusions, with regard to individual accounts, the personal data would be identification data: connection identifier, title, surname, first names, email address, date of birth, unique account identifier; and where applicable, other data which are not systematically present in the accounts: postal address, place of birth, telephone,” detailed the ministry.

An ongoing investigation by OFAC

Founded in 2007, ANTS is chargeable for supporting customers of their requests for regulatory titles and issuing these varied paperwork, beginning with digital and biometric passports, the nationwide identification card, residence permits and even driving licenses.

A report was despatched to the Paris public prosecutor in utility of article 40 of the code of felony process with a view to opening an investigation, since entrusted to the Anti-Cybercrime Office (OFAC).

“The technical investigations carried out internally, started as soon as the incident was detected, are still in progress. They aim to precisely determine its origin and its extent,” defined the Interior.

“At this stage, the investigations carried out exclude the disclosure of additional data transmitted as part of the completion of the various procedures, such as attachments and biometric data,” additional assures the ministry press launch.
