Cocaine and hashish are amongst medicine being readily supplied on the market in High Street mini-marts, a BBC investigation has revealed.
Undercover researchers secretly filmed in cities throughout the West Midlands, together with one store referred to as Cradley Market. One of these researchers met Akwa, who works behind the counter there.
It took simply seconds for Akwa to produce him with 3.5g of hashish for £30. “I’ve got weed, coke, everything. Whatever you want, I can sort you out,” Akwa advised the researcher, later supplying him with cocaine.
Akwa denied any wrongdoing when the BBC’s UK Editor Ed Thomas later confronted him. When requested about promoting medicine, he mentioned he didn’t know what he was speaking about, earlier than asking Ed and his staff to go away.
The authorities is working with police, the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Trading Standards to “take the strongest possible action against these criminal businesses”, a spokesperson for the Home Office mentioned. West Midlands Police mentioned it could all the time work with companions “to act on complaints about illegal drugs sales, anti-social behaviour, and crime and disorder”.
