When the restorer Patric Wagner walked previous the Flüggerhaus in downtown Hamburg on Friday, April seventeenth, the door of the historic workplace constructing was open. He dared to have a look contained in the constructing, he says, and was shocked: the historic paternoster, which he had spent two years restoring, had disappeared. “I thought I was going to be hit,” says Wagner. “He was just gone.”
The Flüggerhaus, constructed between 1907 and 1908 for the Farben Flügger firm, has been a building website for years. In 2019 the Austrian actual property tsar had it René Benko acquired together with his firm Signa. It was to turn into a part of the Flüggerhöfe, a posh with high-end places of work, flats and retail. Because the constructing is a listed constructing, the paternoster can be listed.
