Three males have died after a car plunged into the River Esk on the North York Moors National Park amid “hazardous” driving circumstances within the aftermath of Storm Gerrit.

Emergency companies have been known as at round 11.48am on Thursday after the 4×4 went right into a stretch of the river close to Glaisdale, between Middlesbrough and Scarborough.

It was not precisely clear how the car entered the water, however the roads had been badly affected by the storm, stated North Yorkshire Police.

“Thankfully, the occupants of both vehicles were brought to safety.

“The key advice is to consider whether your journey is necessary.”
