At Rougier & Plé, strikers threatened with dismissal | EUROtoday

Four staff concerned in two days of strike, adopted by nearly all of the workers for the second, had been summoned, on May 3 and 6, for interviews previous to their dismissal: that is the primary evaluation of the social battle which is shaking the Parisian retailer Rougier & Plé within the République district of Paris, a model well-known to leisure and inventive arts fans with a dozen non-franchise factors of sale.

The employer has one month after the interviews to inform its choices.

At the origin of this motion which rocks the flagship unfold over 4 ranges, the working circumstances. The strikers argue that administration has redone the facade of the model's largest retailer within the capital… whereas neglecting the whole lot else. Supporting photographs, they level to wastewater infiltrations within the basement which they declare to have needed to clear themselves in March, as a result of lack of intervention by an organization inside an affordable time; holes within the ceilings and cracks within the partitions; an unsafe electrical set up. An elevator that breaks down too typically forces workers and clients to take the steps or freight elevator.

The employer alleges faults

Furthermore, the twenty-three full-time equal (FTE) staff on the République retailer complain of an extreme workload. “Management does not renew starters. She favors fixed-term contracts and overtime”, relates Sam Jumilla, saleswoman on this retailer and consultant of the SUD union part. So many criticisms that administration refutes in writing: “There are no reservations about the health and safety of this store that have not been followed up by our technical services (…). Sales staff were not asked to clean up water damage (…). The store at 13-15, boulevard des Filles-du-Calvaire now has the same number of employees as it has for years. »

Should we see a link between these two days of strike and the initiation of dismissal procedures? “The summons (…) have, obviously, no connection with this social movement nor with any union membership”, responds the administration of Rougier & Plé. Since the legislation prohibits dismissals for these causes, the employer cites skilled errors or inadequacies: delays, lack of friendliness with clients, harassment of colleagues or superiors, labeling errors, something goes…
