Boris Johnson has vented his anger at Donald Trump’s bombshell hush cash trial conviction, decrying it as a “machine-gun mob-style hit job”.

The former prime minister declared his help for the previous US president, who was discovered responsible of 34 expenses associated to falsifying enterprise data to cowl hush-money funds to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The Republican candidate for this 12 months’s crunch US presidential election will probably be sentenced on July 11 and may very well be jailed, though many consider a effective is extra possible.

Current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his Labour opponent Sir Keir Starmer have each refused to criticise the jury’s verdict, as Mr Trump turns into the primary American president to be convicted of a criminal offense.

But Mr Johnson, whose time in Downing Street overlapped with Mr Trump’s tenure within the White House, known as the conviction “authoritarian and corrupt” and mentioned it will make the Republican’s re-election “more not less likely”.

Writing within the Daily Mail, Mr Johnson mentioned: “The American people have looked at this case, and in spite of all the portentous claims about its HISTORIC importance, they have concluded that it was, by and large, a load of stunted-up old nonsense.

“It was nakedly political. It was completely artificial.”

He went on to lambast the “liberal elites” for “using anything they could find to derail his campaign”.

“When we see this happening in Africa, or in Russia, we denounce it as authoritarian and corrupt,” added Mr Johnson.

“Well, the American people have looked at it, and decided that the methods and the motives are fundamentally the same.”

Earlier on Friday, Mr Trump raged towards the decision throughout a press convention at Trump Tower in New York.

During the rambling 39-minute speech, he attacked Judge Juan Merchan, who oversaw the trial, and US President Joe Biden – making weird claims all through.

The property tycoon denounced Mr Biden’s automobile manufacturing coverage, accusing the administration of working to cease Americans from “having cars”.
