Trump Won’t Rule Out Using Force To Take Greenland | EUROtoday

President Donald Trump implied he would possibly attempt to take Greenland by pressure whereas discussing his repeated calls for the U.S. to amass the territory, which have sparked widespread concern and criticism from the island itself.

In an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” anchor Kristen Welker requested whether or not Trump may definitively say the U.S. received’t use pressure towards the territory.

“I don’t rule it out. I don’t say I’m going to do it, but I don’t rule out anything. No, not there,” Trump stated. “We need Greenland very badly. Greenland is a very small amount of people, which we’ll take care of, and we’ll cherish them, and all of that. But we need that for international security.”

Also within the interview, Welker requested Trump if he would “rule out” the once-inconceivable prospect of utilizing army pressure towards Canada amid the politician’s ongoing feedback about annexing the neighboring nation because the 51st state.

“Well, I think we’re not gonna ever get to that point. It could happen. Something could happen with Greenland,” he stated. “I’ll be honest, we need that for national and international security.”

“But not with Canada?” Walker questioned.

“I don’t see it with Canada. I just don’t see it, I have to be honest with you,” Trump stated.

Back in December, Trump stated in a publish on his Truth Social platform that it’s “an absolute necessity” for the United States to achieve “ownership and control of Greenland.”

After Trump but once more repeated his need for the territory in his speech to a joint session of Congress in March, Greenland Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede wrote on Facebook: “We are not for sale and cannot simply be taken.”
